Longines Hong Kong Masters, let the countdown begin

58 of the world’s best equine athletes, 2 dressage horses and the 2 Arabian horses who will be performing with equestrian artist Santi Serra, arrived in Hong Kong last night on a specially chartered Emirates Boeing 777F flight from Liège Airport, Belgium.

During their 13-hour journey the horses were accompanied by a professional flying jockey, a vet and 7 groomers to ensure that they arrived in the best physical condition possible during the 10,000km flight from Europe.

This year’s current World Number 1 rider Scott Brash from the UK will be competing at the Longines Hong Kong Masters. His two horses Hello My Lady and Hello Annie were accompanied on the long journey by 22-year-old groomer Hannah Colman.

She said traveling with both horses went well and she is looking forward to being involved in her first competition experience in Hong Kong. “I am so excited to be here, I have been looking forward to this trip all year,” Colman said.

The horses along with their riders will compete in 6 competitions for a share of a total prize money pool of $1 million USD (approximately HKD7.8 million).

Christophe Ameeuw, founder and organizer of the Masters Grand Slam Indoor, commented: “We are delighted to say that all horses have arrived safely in Hong Kong and are resting comfortably in the stables at Asia World Expo ready to compete in the third edition of the Longines Hong Kong Masters. The world’s best horses now fly with us across continents to participate in the Masters Grand Slam Series taking place in Los Angeles and Paris in addition to Hong Kong which kicks off the series.”
